Copeland, Robert Morris. Proposed Improvements in Streets and Reservaions for Public Grounds.
1872
Boston: Lee and Shepherd, 1872. Compiled by the landscape gardener, it is published in a pamphlet entitled “The Most Beautiful City in America: Essay & Plan for the Improvement of the City of Boston.” Less ambitious than a plan he had published in a newspaper editorial in 1876, it again calls for a system of large parks, linked by boulevards, and includes a proposal for an improved sewerage system in the Back Bay – all facets in the subsequent “Emerald Necklace” plan implemented by Frederick Law Olmsted.
